5. How do I test my system? How often should I test it?
A: Please test your system at least quarterly. The procedure for testing the alarm is as follows :
- Call the Central Station that handles your monitoring. Click here if you need the number.
- Give the Central Station your password and tell them that you would like to place your system on TEST. DO NOT TEST YOUR SYSTEM UNTIL YOU HAVE NOTIFIED THE MONITORING STATION.
- The Central Station will place your account on TEST for one hour.
- With the chime feature turned on, open and close each contacted door/window and listen for a chime. No chime indicates a bad contact. If an opening does not chime, please Contact Us for service.
- Arm your system as if you were leaving.
- Wait for the exit delay to expire.
- Open a protected zone, such as a door or window or create movement in front of a motion detector to activate the siren and send a signal.
- Wait 45 seconds after the siren sounds before turning off your alarm.
- Call back to the Central Station to verify that the signal was received or to schedule a service call if testing reveals a problem with your system.
6. Can I control my alarm system from my cell phone?
A: Yes. We offer a product called the Broadband Alarm Transmitter. Using this device the alarm can transmit signals using the internet to the central station, offer notifications of any type via SMS, email, or voice phone call, and allow remote access via any web browser or iPhone.
